In memory of Aaron Swartz: The victim of a legal inquisition

One year ago, we lost a friend and fierce digital rights activist, Aaron Swartz. EFF.org

swartz-curious“Aaron believed in open access to information. He used his life to bring knowledge to people worldwide and to fight censorship. He was an activist, a coder, and an inspiration.

But Aaron was hounded by an aggressive prosecution for alleged violations of the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act, a vague, outdated law that doesn’t protect the rights of people working for the public good. The law was abused to persecute Aaron. He took his own life on January 11, 2013.

Today, we remember Aaron. We remember everything he did to defend liberty and innovation, and we renew our vow to fight in his honor.”
